The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) has officially released the theory date sheet for the Class 10 (Secondary) and Class 12 (Senior Secondary) April 2026 public examinations. The announcement was made on March 25, 2026.

The theory exams are scheduled to begin on April 10, 2026, and will conclude on May 6, 2026.

The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) has finalized the schedule for the April-May 2026 session. While practical exams are already underway (concluding April 1), students can now access the full theory timetable. Notably, NIOS has adjusted a few exam dates in states like Rajasthan, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh due to assembly elections and other competitive exams.

How to Download NIOS Date Sheet 2026 PDF

  1. Visit the official NIOS student portal: sdmis.nios.ac.in.
  2. Go to the “Notifications” or “Examination” section on the homepage.
  3. Click on the link titled “Date Sheet for Theory Examination (Secondary and Senior Secondary) April 2026 Session”.
  4. The PDF will open in a new tab; click the download icon to save it for reference.

Mandatory Guidelines for Students

  • Hall Ticket: The theory exam hall tickets (Intimation-cum-Hall Ticket) will be released in the last week of March 2026. You must download it from the SDMIS portal using your 12-digit enrollment number.
  • Reading Time: Candidates will be provided 15 minutes of additional time before the start of the exam (at 2:15 PM) to read the question paper.
  • ID Requirements: Carry your original NIOS Identity Card along with the printed Hall Ticket and a valid photo ID (Aadhar Card) to the exam center.
  • State-Specific Changes: Students in Rajasthan, Karnataka, TN, WB, Bihar, and UP must double-check the “State Wise Adjusted Dates” mentioned in the official PDF to ensure they don’t miss their rescheduled papers.
