How the GDS Merit List is Prepared
The selection for India Post GDS is strictly based on the marks obtained in the 10th Standard (Secondary School Examination).
- No written exam or interview is conducted.
- Candidates are shortlisted based on their percentage (up to 4 decimal points).
- In case of a tie in marks, the older candidate is given preference.
How to Download India Post GDS Merit List 2026
- Visit the official India Post GDS portal: indiapostgdsonline.gov.in.
- Look for the “Shortlisted Candidates” tab on the left sidebar.
- Select your State/Circle (e.g., Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh).
- Click on the link to download the Merit List PDF.
- Open the PDF and search for your Registration Number or Name (use Ctrl+F).
- If your name appears, check the allotted post and division for Document Verification.
Document Verification Requirements
Shortlisted candidates must carry the following original documents:
- 10th Class Marksheet & Certificate
- Caste/Community Certificate (if applicable)
- PwD Certificate (if applicable)
- Identity Proof (Aadhar Card/PAN Card)
- Recent Passport Size Photographs
