The NTA has invited online applications for GAT-B 2026 and BET 2026. GAT-B is the national-level entrance for M.Sc., M.Tech., and M.V.Sc. programs, while BET is the qualifying exam for the DBT-Junior Research Fellowship (DBT-JRF). If you are aiming for a career in research or advanced biotech studies, you can submit your application starting March 19, 2026.
Both exams are scheduled to be held on Sunday, May 17, 2026, in a Computer-Based Test (CBT) format.

Eligibility Criteria
- For GAT-B: Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or allied areas. Candidates in the final year (Result Awaited) are also eligible to apply.
- For BET: Master’s degree in Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, or Life Sciences with minimum required marks (usually 60% for Gen/OBC and 55% for SC/ST/PwD).
- Age Limit (for BET only): Maximum 28 years (as of the last date of application).
- Relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST/Women/PwD and 3 years for OBC-NCL.
- Age Limit (for GAT-B): No specific age limit prescribed by NTA (subject to participating institute norms).

Exam Pattern & Syllabus
- Mode: Computer-Based Test (CBT).
- Medium: English only.
- GAT-B Pattern: 160 total questions (120 to be attempted).
- Section A: 60 compulsory questions (10+2 level Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Biology).
- Section B: 100 graduate-level questions (60 to be attempted).
- BET Pattern: 200 total questions (100 to be attempted).
- Section A: 50 compulsory questions (General Science, Aptitude, Biotech).
- Section B: 150 specialized biotech questions (50 to be attempted).
How to Apply Online
- Visit the official portal: exams.nta.nic.in/GAT-BET.
- Registration: Register using your Email ID and Mobile Number to get your Application Number.
- Fill Form: Provide personal and academic details. Select whether you are applying for GAT-B, BET, or both.
- Upload Documents: Scanned Photo, Signature, Category Certificate, and Result Awaited Certificate (if applicable).
- Payment: Pay the fee online via Net Banking, Card, or UPI.
- Confirmation: Download and save the Confirmation Page for future reference.
