The National Informatics Centre (NIC) has officially released a recruitment notification (Advt. No. NIELIT/NIC/2026/1) for the posts of Scientist-C, Scientist-D, Scientist-E, and Scientist-F. This is a high-level recruitment drive for IT and Electronics professionals to join a premier science and technology organization under the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY).

The online application portal is now active, and the last date to apply is April 20, 2026.

NIC is seeking experienced and highly skilled professionals to lead various digital governance and infrastructure projects across India. Unlike entry-level roles, these positions require significant post-qualification experience and a strong background in Research & Development or Technical Support in the field of ICT.

Eligibility Criteria (as of April 20, 2026)

1. Educational Qualification:

  • Essential: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (B.E./B.Tech) OR Master’s Degree in Science (M.Sc) OR MCA / ME / M.Tech / M.Phil.
  • Fields: Electronics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Applications, or equivalent.

2. Experience Requirement:

  • Scientist-C: Minimum 4 years of post-qualification experience.
  • Scientist-D: Minimum 8 years of post-qualification experience.
  • Scientist-E: Minimum 12 years of post-qualification experience.
  • Scientist-F: Minimum 16 years of post-qualification experience.

3. Age Limit:

  • Scientist-C & D: Max 35–40 years.
  • Scientist-E & F: Max 45–50 years.
  • Relaxation: Standard Govt. norms apply for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD.

Selection Process

The selection involves a rigorous evaluation of technical and managerial expertise:

  1. Screening: Applications are shortlisted based on qualifications and the relevance of experience.
  2. Written Evaluation (If applicable): For lower grades (Scientist-C), a technical paper may be conducted.
  3. Personal Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview at New Delhi or through Video Conferencing. Selection is primarily based on the Interview performance.
