UPSC CMSE Notification 2026 – Apply Online for 1358 Medical Officer Vacancies

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the notification for the Combined Medical Services Examination (CMSE) 2026. This recruitment drive aims to fill 1,358 tentative vacancies for various Medical Officer roles across Central Health Service, Railways, NDMC, and MCD.

Vacancy Details

• Total Vacancies: 1,358 (Tentative)
• Key Positions: Medical Officers (Central Health Service), Assistant Divisional Medical Officers (Railways), and General Duty Medical Officers (NDMC/MCD).

Eligibility Criteria

• Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed the written and practical parts of the final M.B.B.S. examination. (Candidates yet to complete their internship are eligible to apply provisionally).
• Age Limit:
  • Medical Officers (Central Health Service): Up to 35 years.
  • Other Posts (ADMO, NDMC, MCD): Up to 32 years.
  • Age relaxation applies to SC/ST/OBC/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen as per government norms.

• Application Start Date: 11 March 2026
• Last Date to Apply: 31 March 2026 (06:00 PM)
• Exam Date: 02 August 2026

Application Fees

• General / OBC / EWS: ₹200/-
• Female / SC / ST / PwBD: Nil (Exempted)

Selection Process

1. Written Examination (500 Marks): Two objective-type papers (General Medicine, Paediatrics, Surgery, Gynaecology, etc.). Note: 1/3rd negative marking applies.
2. Personality Test (100 Marks): Interview for qualified candidates.
3. Final Merit: Based on aggregate marks from the written exam and interview.

How to Apply

1. Register at upsconline.nic.in to obtain a Universal Registration Number (URN).
2. Complete the Common Application Form (CAF) with personal/educational details.
3. Select “Combined Medical Services Examination, 2026” in the Examination Specific Module.
4. Pay the fee (if applicable) and submit the application.
