3. Selection Process & Exam Pattern
The selection process consists of three rigorous stages:
Stage I: Preliminary Examination (Qualifying)
- Format: Objective (MCQs).
- Total Marks: 150 Marks.
- Duration: 2 Hours.
- Negative Marking: 1/3rd (0.33) marks will be deducted for every wrong answer.
- Subjects: History of Bihar, Indian History, Geography, Polity, Economy, General Science, and Current Affairs.
Stage II: Main Written Examination (Descriptive)
- General Hindi: 100 Marks (Qualifying only – 30% required).
- GS Paper 1: 300 Marks.
- GS Paper 2: 300 Marks.

- Login: Use the generated User ID and Password to log in to your dashboard.
- Application Form: Fill in your educational details and address. Select the “72nd Combined Competitive Examination.”
- Live Photo: BPSC requires a live photograph captured via webcam during the application. Ensure you have a clear background.
- Upload Documents: Upload scanned Hindi and English signatures (size: 15KB max).
- Application Fee:
- General/OBC/Other States: ₹600.
- SC/ST/Women of Bihar/PwD: ₹150.
