2. Eligibility Criteria (For Jan 2027 Course)

A. Educational Qualification

• Class 12th (10+2): Candidates must have passed the 10+2 Examination or its equivalent with a minimum aggregate of 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM).
• Mandatory Requirement: Candidates must have appeared in JEE Mains 2026. The shortlisting for the SSB interview will be based on the Common Rank List (CRL) of JEE Mains 2026.

B. Age Limit (Calculated as on Jan 1, 2027)

• Minimum Age: 16½ Years.
• Maximum Age: 19½ Years.
• Date of Birth Range: Candidates should not be born before July 1, 2007, and not after July 1, 2010 (both dates inclusive).

C. Nationality & Marital Status

• Only unmarried male candidates are eligible.
• Candidates must be citizens of India or subjects of Nepal/Bhutan (with relevant eligibility certificates).

3. Selection Process: The Direct Entry Route

The TES entry is unique because there is no written examination. The selection is purely based on academic merit and personality assessment.

1. Shortlisting: Applications are shortlisted based on the JEE Mains 2026 CRL Rank. The Integrated HQ of MoD (Army) fixes a cutoff rank, and candidates above that rank receive a call letter.
2. SSB Interview: Shortlisted candidates undergo a 5-day selection process at one of the Selection Centres (Prayagraj, Bhopal, Bengaluru, or Jalandhar).
   • Stage I: Intelligence Test & Picture Perception and Discussion Test (PPDT).
   • Stage II: Psychological Tests, Group Tasks (GTO), and Personal Interview.
3. Medical Examination: Candidates recommended by the SSB undergo a thorough medical check-up by a board of Service Medical Officers.
4. Final Merit List: Prepared based on SSB marks and medical fitness.

4. Training and Career Progression

Selected candidates undergo a total of 4 years of training:

• Phase I (3 Years): Pre-commission training and Engineering education at one of the Cadet Training Wings (CTWs) at Pune, Mhow, or Secunderabad.
• Phase II (1 Year): Final year of training at the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun.
• Outcome: Upon graduation, candidates receive an Engineering Degree and are commissioned as Lieutenants.

Stipend: During the final year of training at IMA, cadets receive a fixed stipend of ₹56,100 per month.
