The OSSC has announced a fresh recruitment drive for the post of Civil Defence Instructor and Senior Store Inspector. Though the vacancy count is small (7 posts), these are highly respected Group-B positions in the Home Guards and Civil Defence department. Online registration begins on March 25, 2026. Candidates must meet specific physical standards in addition to academic qualifications to be eligible.

Vacancy Details & Salary

  • Total Vacancies: 07 (including 02 for Women)
  • Category Break-up: UR (03), ST (02), SC (01), SEBC (01).
  • Pay Scale: Level-9, Cell-01 of ORSP-2017 (Approx. basic pay ₹35,400 + allowances).

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognized university + Basic Computer Knowledge.
  2. Odia Language Proficiency: Must be able to read, write, and speak Odia (Passed HSC/Class VII with Odia).
  3. Age Limit (as of 01.01.2025):
    • Minimum: 21 Years
    • Maximum: 32 Years
    • Relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST/SEBC and All Women candidates.

Selection Process

  1. Written Examination: 150 Questions (150 Marks) covering General English, Odia Language, and General Studies.
  2. Physical Measurement Test (PMT) & Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Qualifying in nature (includes running and long jump).
  3. Certificate Verification.

Application Fee

  • General / SEBC: ₹500 (Refundable to those who appear for the written exam).
  • SC / ST / PwD: Exempted (Nil).

  2. Click on “Apply Online” and select “New User” if you haven’t registered on the OSSC portal before.
  3. Find the link for “Civil Defence Instructor / Senior Store Inspector – 2026”.
  4. Fill in personal, educational, and physical details.
  5. Upload scanned photo, signature, and thumb impression.
  6. Pay the fee (if applicable) and submit the form.
