Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) has opened the doors for fresh admissions for the 2026-27 session. While Class 1 and Balvatika registrations are handled online through a centralized portal, admissions for Class 2 to 9 and Class 11 will be conducted in offline mode based on seat availability in individual schools.

The online application window is short, running from March 20 to April 2, 2026. Parents are advised to keep their documents ready for the lottery-based selection process.

Eligibility & Age Criteria (as of 31.03.2026)

KVS strictly follows the NEP 2020 guidelines for age limits. A child born on April 1 is also eligible.

Required Documents for Online Application

Before starting the form at kvsonlineadmission.kvs.gov.in, ensure you have scanned copies of:

  1. Birth Certificate: Issued by competent authority (Mandatory).
  2. Passport Photo: Recent photograph of the child.
  3. Residence Proof: Electricity bill, Aadhar, or Rent Agreement.
  4. Category Certificate: SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/BPL (if applicable).
  5. Service Certificate: For parents in Central/State Govt or PSUs to claim priority.

Selection & Lottery System

  • No Entrance Test: Admission for Class 1 is done via a Computerized Lottery.
  • RTE Quota: 25% of seats (10 per section) are reserved for the Right to Education category.
  • Priority Category: Children of transferable Central Govt employees and Ex-Servicemen receive the highest priority.

How to Apply for KVS Class 1 & Balvatika

  1. Register: Visit kvsonlineadmission.kvs.gov.in and click “New Registration.”
  2. Login: Use the unique Login Code sent to your mobile.
  3. Choose Schools: You can select up to three different Kendriya Vidyalayas.
  4. Upload: Attach the required photo and birth certificate.
  5. Submit: Preview and submit the form. Keep the application printout for the lottery day.
