Eligibility Criteria & Essential Parameters

1. Age Limit Parameters (As on 1st January 2026)

  • Minimum Age: 18 Years
  • Maximum Age: 37 Years for General Category candidates.
  • Upper Age Relaxations:
    • SC / BC of Punjab: Up to 42 Years
    • Widows, Divorcees & Deserted Women: Up to 40 Years
    • State / Central Government Employees: Up to 45 Years

2. Post-Wise Educational Qualifications

  • Driver: Matriculation (10th Standard) pass, possession of a valid Light and Heavy Motor Vehicle driving license, and a minimum of 3 years of driving experience.
  • Clerk (Legal): Graduation in Law from a recognized University, alongside passing English and Punjabi typewriting tests at a speed of 30 words per minute.
  • Clerk (Accounts): Graduation in Commerce or graduation with Statistics, Mathematics, or Accounts as a core subject.
  • Clerk (I.T.): Degree in Computer Science / Information Technology / Computer Applications (BCA / B.Sc. / B.Tech) or equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • Translator: Graduation degree along with a 120-hour computer course/IT course (or ‘O’ level certificate).
  • Field Artist: Graduation degree in Music, Drama, or Dance from a recognized university.
  • Mandatory Requirement: Matriculation with Punjabi language as one of the compulsory or elective subjects (or equivalent standards as per Punjab government rules) is mandatory for all posts.

Selection Process Structure

The multi-stage selection process comprises:

  1. Written Competitive Examination (Objective Type MCQs):
    • Part-A: Punjabi Language qualifying test of Matriculation standard. Candidates must secure a minimum of 50% marks to qualify; marks are not counted toward final merit.
    • Part-B: Core merit-based written examination covering relevant subject knowledge, general awareness, and mental ability. 1 mark is awarded for each correct answer, with a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer.
  2. Typing Skill Test: Mandatory for all Clerk posts (Punjabi and English typing test at a minimum speed of 30 wpm).
