2. Eligibility Criteria (As of April 30, 2026)

A. Educational Qualification

• Degree: Full-time B.E. / B.Tech / B.Sc (Engineering) in Mining Engineering from a recognized University/Institute.
• Minimum Marks:

  • SC / ST: 55% aggregate marks.

3. Salary & Benefits (E-1 Grade)

Selected candidates will be placed in the E-1 Grade as Management Trainees.

• Pay Scale: ₹60,000 – ₹1,80,000.
• Initial Basic Pay: ₹60,000 per month during the 1-year training period.
• Regularization: On successful completion of training and passing the departmental test, trainees are regularized in the E-2 Grade with a pay scale of ₹70,000 – ₹2,00,000.
• Perks: DA, HRA, Performance Related Pay (PRP), and a “Cafeteria” of allowances (up to 35% of basic pay).

4. Selection Process: The GATE Route

For the Mining discipline, there is no separate entrance exam or interview. The selection is purely merit-based.

1. Shortlisting: Candidates are shortlisted based on their GATE 2025 Normalized Marks.
2. Merit List: Shortlisted candidates (usually in a 1:3 ratio) are called for Document Verification (DV).
3. Tie-Breaking: If two candidates have the same GATE score:
   • The candidate with a higher percentage in B.E./B.Tech is ranked higher.
   • If still tied, the senior candidate (by date of birth) is preferred.
4. Initial Medical Examination (IME): Mining engineers must pass a rigorous medical test as per the Mines Act, 1952. This includes vision, hearing, and lung function tests essential for underground environments.
