Eligibility Criteria
1. Age Limit (As on 01 July 2026)
- Minimum: 20 years
- Maximum: 30 years
- Age Relaxation: SC/ST (5 years), OBC-Non-Creamy Layer (3 years), and PwBD (10 years) as per government norms.
2. Educational Qualification
- Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognized university or any equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government.
- The candidate must possess valid mark sheets/degrees indicating the percentage of marks obtained in graduation while registering.
Selection Process
The selection for IBPS PO/MT is conducted in three distinct stages:
- Preliminary Examination: An objective-type test consisting of English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning Ability. It is qualifying in nature.
- Main Examination: A comprehensive test including both objective and descriptive components, covering Reasoning/Computer Aptitude, General/Economy/Banking Awareness, Data Analysis & Interpretation, and English Language.
- Interview: Conducted by Participating Banks and coordinated by the Nodal Bank, this stage assesses the candidate’s personality and professional suitability.
Note: A final merit list is prepared based on the combined marks of the Main Examination and the Interview.

Q1: Is there a negative marking in the exam?
A: Yes, there is a penalty of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer marked in both the Preliminary and Main objective tests.
Q2: Can final-year students apply?
A: Candidates must have their final graduation mark sheet/degree at the time of registration. If your results are awaited, you are generally not eligible to apply.
Q3: What is the basic salary for an IBPS PO?
A: The starting basic pay is ₹48,480 per month, plus allowances such as Dearness Allowance, HRA, and others, making it a very lucrative entry-level position.
Q4: Can I apply for multiple banks?
A: The single application allows you to indicate preferences for all 11 participating banks. Based on your merit and the bank’s requirements, you will be allotted to one of them.
